A California highway was the scene of a tragedy at approximately 6:30 a.m. on a recent Wednesday. One of the drivers involved in a two-vehicle collision was traveling in a golf cart at the time. Police continue to investigate the incident, although they have stated that they do not believe alcohol or drugs were factors.
Motor vehicle accidents often occur when drivers that are approaching from behind fail to notice the vehicle in front. In this case, the person driving the car apparently did not realize the golf cart was in front of him, traveling in the same lane. The force of the impact caused the golf cart operator to be ejected from the vehicle.
The incident resulted in a fatality
Sadly, the golf cart driver did not survive his injuries. California Highway Patrol representatives did not publish the man’s name, as they were still in the process of notifying his next of kin. A phone number was published so that anyone with information that may be helpful to the investigation might call and speak with CHP representatives.
Navigating the aftermath of a fatal collision
For recovering victims of California car accidents, the weeks and months following a collision are filled with physical pain from injuries but also financial distress due to time off work, medical bills and other issues. When a family loses a loved one to fatal injuries, an immediate family member may act on behalf of the decedent to file a wrongful death claim in civil court. While there is no way to replace the loss of a human life, such litigation may, at least, result in compensation for damages that alleviate any financial strain associated with the collision.
